Oh to be a Little League Player

I must congratulate Baseball WA and David Hayes for the outstanding way in which they have lifted the profile of Junior baseball and in particular, Little League. In my sons days you had the Cub Academy and the Tiger Academy and whilst these were fantastic, the players usually toured the country regions for the former and the eastern states for the latter. Of course this was big time back then but it pales into insignificance when you think of the Little league players currently touring Dubai and Hong Kong .
Begs the question, why wouldn't our players want to move onto Baseball, when you consider the possibilities  like Dubai and the Little League World Series.
It is almost unimaginable to think you could be representing your country at Baseball at11 or 12 years old.
Congratulations to all those players chosen for this tour. There must be some Mums and Dads out there feeling very proud, and rightfully so.
You can follow how the teams are going via Facebook or on the WA Little League site, see links below.

How exciting it must be these days for players leaving tee-ball knowing the possibilities ahead of them.
I must admit, when the Junior Baseball League was disbanded and Baseball WA formed, myself and many other people believed that juniors would suffer the most. Whilst it has taken a number of years to come to fruition, I for one am happy to concede I was wrong.
It is so encouraging to see BWA considering juniors as important as State League.
Once again well done Lachy, David and the team at Baseball WA.
